At Greek Conference, we got stuck because the gas tank was frozen. After about 4 hours we did get it going so we could drive home... but in the mean time we had to come up with something to entertain ourselves.

So that's why I went to college- by Sarah
Well, I've been out of college 4 years now and I think I have always wondered why I was a history major. (I'm sure my parents have been asking that question in silent desperation as well.) I started my new job yesterday and out of the blue my first two days have been filled with editing articles that will be going into an alumni publication that is coming out this next month. Crazy! All those late nights trying to figure out if my history essay was actually proving that Russia won the Cold War are paying off (hmm...maybe that's why I failed Cold War History). I'm actually using my writing skills for something!
While I wont be doing editing for most of my job, it's nice to put my rusty writing skills to use. It's cool that God has a purpose behind every detail of my life.
For those of you who haven't heard, I took a part time job working with InterVarsity's Alumni department. I'll be working there 20 hours a week mostly helping maintain the data base and then will have the opportunity to help out on other alumni projects along the way.
Transition...transition. I feel like that's all I've done the past year. I have to admit that while I love where I am at now, I definately feel like I have reverted back to being a kindergardener tring to figure out how to use crayons and glue and learning for the first time that there are really unspoken rules to how things work. At least this time around I know not to eat the glue!

Adventures in Apartment Living part 2, by Sarah
Sundays are generally a quite day filled with much sitting around contemplating why the specks on the wall look like the face of Benjamin Franklin. And so this Sunday was no different when all of a sudden my tranquility was disturbed by the loud rumbling of firemen racing up to the second and third floor of our apartment complex.
Benjamin and I listen to muffled bangs and shuffling of many feet above and I finally pick up enough courage to poke my head out of our apartment hoping that I wouldn't be caught in the middle of some major disaster.
I find my neighbor in the hallway with our upstairs neighbor looking utterly bewildered and in disbelief.
"uh...is everything OK?" I ask hesitatingly.
"No!" responded our next door neighbor, "The "flipping" idiot on the third floor just pulled the hot water pipe out of his bathtub and all that water not only went through his (the upstairs neighbor's) apartment but into mine as well! And they just carted this guy off for possession of firearms and drugs! No wonder he was so giddy about the whole thing!"
A few hours later after helping my neighbor clean up, she is still waiting for the water sucker up people to get the water out of her apartment and I am back to staring at Benjamin thankful that his speckled image was not damaged by a firearm wielding, drug overloaded man who thought he'd teach the world a lesson by pulling out a pipe.
